Communicable disease reporting is a critical part of public health surveillance. Timely reporting allows PHD to develop a disease profile for the five northern counties of Idaho and, in turn, provide that information back to the medical community so it can better serve patients.
Idaho law requires laboratories, health care providers or health care facility administrators to report infectious diseases, conditions or syndromes listed on Idaho's Reportable Disease List. Reportable disease reporting to the Panhandle Health District, a public health authority, is in compliance with HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Reports may be faxed to the Panhandle Health District at (208) 772-3920 or 1-866-716-2599, toll-free.
