Many people don't know where to turn if they have little money, no health insurance and a medical, dental or pharmaceutical need. Finding medical care for themselves and their families can be very difficult.
Panhandle Health District can help. PHD has a nurse available Mondays through Fridays who is available to answer questions, make community referrals and help people who need medical care get an appointment with a Helping Hands provider.
Panhandle Health District's Helping Hands providers are local physicians, dentists, counselors, pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories and other medical providers that volunteer their time and services to care for income-challenged children and adults. These providers do not charge the patient or Panhandle Health District for these services. They are truly gifts from the heart.
How do I know if I am qualified for Helping Hands?
Call Panhandle Health District at 415-5286 and ask to speak to the Resource Nurse. If you have a short-term acute health need and no health insurance and meet the income requirements, the Resource Nurse may be able to help you access a variety of community health services.
