Vaccine against the H1N1 influenza virus became available to residents of the five northern counties of Idaho in fall 2009. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the vaccine Sept. 15, 2009.
From October through December 2009, Panhandle Health District provided public vaccination clinics in all five counties on the same days.
The H1N1 vaccination is voluntary, as are all vaccinations in the United States.
