Panhandle Health District offers a short training program for food handlers. The course is offered at all five offices in the health district. It costs $10 and a minimum number of participants is required to schedule a class. For class information call:

The Food Safety Certification class covers basic microbiology, food borne illnesses and the the general requirements for food handlers in the Idaho Food Code. The course includes information on safety and maintenance and operation of most common food service equipment.

At the end of the class, participants may take PHD's exam to obtain a food safety certification card, which is valid only in Idaho. To obtain the state of Idaho's Food Safety and Sanitation Certificate, a free exam is offered online at www.foodsafety.idaho.gov.
