Public Health Services help you prevent health problems. We consult, educate, examine and screen for health problems that early detection can prevent or improve with treatment. We work closely with our community's private medical services, pharmacies, volunteer service organizations, local and state agencies and providers of social, educational and dental services.
We help you manage chronic diseases, understand nutrition's role in good health, prevent injuries and know what to look for in a child care facility. Clinical and educational services cover every age, from newborns to the elderly.

Panhandle Home Health began in 1967 and has provided doctor-ordered nursing
care for homebound patients of all ages in the five northern counties ever since. In 2005,
2006 and 2007, Panhandle Home Health won national honors for surpassing patient expecta-
tions. Patients surveyed were pleased with the high quality of the nurses and personal
care staff and with the respect the staff showed them.
Twenty-three percent of Panhandle Home Health's clients return to the hospital for care,
which is 2 percent lower than the state average and 5 percent lower than the national
average.
Panhandle Home Health is not for profit and locally run. Home Health maintains offices in
each of the five northern counties. Headquarters in Kootenai County handles all referrals
and coordination of services.
