Health Advisory Lifted for Hauser Lake Shoreline

Panhandle Health District (PHD) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have lifted a health advisory for the Hauser Lake shoreline.

PHD and DEQ issued the health advisory last week in response to blue-green algae identified in water samples along the lake’s shoreline. Blue-green algae are naturally occurring, microscopic bacteria that can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals.

Observations indicate that blue-green algae have dissipated and are no longer a health threat for people and animals coming in contact with lake water. Residents are advised to keep an eye out for any reappearance of algae blooms.
