Young Child Week Features Art Show

Hayden – The Week of the Young Child April 10-16 will feature a Children’s Art Show at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library and other activities to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families.

“It’s a time to recognize early childhood programs and services that meet those needs,” said Jennifer Ross, Child Care Resources coordinator for the Panhandle Health District. “Our child care providers understand the importance of partnering with parents to promote early learning at school and home.”

The theme for the week is “Early Years are Learning Years.” The art show at the Coeur d’Alene library will feature art works by preschoolers from Kootenai County. From April 8 to April 29, libraries in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Hayden will display a continuous slide show with views of the world through a young child’s eyes.

Child care providers are invited to an appreciation luncheon on Saturday, April 30, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. For reservations, contact Barbi Harrison at 208-699-9133 or niaeyc@roadrunner.com by April 18.

The Week of the Young Child is in its 40th year. The National Association for the Education of Young Children sponsors the annual celebration.
