Free Child Safety Seat Check-ups
Panhandle Health District will hold a child safety seat check-up on Saturday, September 23, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It will be at Christ the King Child Development Center at 1700 E Pennsylvania Avenue in Coeur d’Alene. Parents of children attending any childcare center are encouraged to attend. There is no charge.
At the check-up parents with children up to age 7 can have child seats checked for proper installation and find out if the seat they use is on the recall list. National SAFE Kids-certified instructors Bonnie Held and Joanna Adams will conduct the public check-up in partnership with local certified technicians.
The Coeur d’Alene Kiwanis Club is a co-sponsor of this community event. The club provided funding for replacement seats, which may be available for a contribution.
Also, a “Moving Children Safely in Child Care” workshop for childcare providers will be conducted prior to the check-up at the Child Development Center. Childcare providers who attend will receive four-hours of Idaho STARS training hours and can register by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-926-2588. Cost for the workshop is $35 and must be received by September 20, 2006. Ask about scholarship information for childcare providers when calling to register. Enrollment is limited to 20 for the workshop.
