Health District Offers Free Child Safety Seat Inspections
The Panhandle Health District (PHD) will check child safety seats for proper installation free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 22, in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Post Falls.
National SAFE KIDS Certified Technicians will make certain child safety seats meet safety standards and are being used correctly. The program is open to the public. It is the second free child safety event this year sponsored by State Farm Insurance, Sue Breesnee Agency in Post Falls. State Farm awarded PHD a $5,000 grant for the child safety seat inspections through its State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship program.
“For us, it’s all about safety,” said Sue Breesnee, State Farm Insurance agent in the Post Falls office that helped secure the grant. “We want to make sure children are safe and child seats are properly installed.”
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children under the age of 14.
Health and Welfare Child Development Center, Mountain States Early Head Start, Post Falls Police Department and Wal-Mart are contributing partners in the free child safety seat check up.
