Free Fit and Fall Proof™ Training Scheduled
Hayden – Panhandle Health District (PHD) will offer a free training Friday, July 15, for people interested in volunteering to lead seniors in the Fit and Fall Proof™ fitness program.
Fit and Fall Proof™ is designed to strengthen older adults so they fall less. Moderate-intensity exercises help seniors maintain an independent, freely functioning lifestyle. The program promotes good muscular strength and flexibility that enable seniors to stay vital. It reduces the risk of falling through better balance and posture, improved reaction time, gait speed and stability.
People interested in starting a class or helping a class already organized will learn exercises and tests for agility and coordination. Participants will receive all the training materials they need and walk through an actual class.
Program creators Terry-Ann Spitzer Gibson and Jan Mittleider will teach the class.
Fit and Fall Proof™ classes are for people older than 64, but the class leader training on July 15 is for people of all ages. Participants should be in good health and wear workout clothes and shoes.
The volunteer training will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the lobby conference rooms at the PHD building at 8500 N. Atlas Rd. in Hayden. Pre-registration for the free class is necessary to hold a spot. To register, call Lisa Gardom at 415-5242 by Thursday, July 7.
