Free Child Safety Seat Check-ups

Coeur d’Alene--The Panhandle Health District will check child safety seats for proper installation and their current status on recall lists Saturday, Sept. 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Christ the King Child Development Center, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave. in Coeur d’Alene. The service is free. Parents of children attending any child-care center are encouraged to attend.

National SAFE Kids-certified instructors Bonnie Held and Joanna Adams and local certified technicians will check the child safety seats. The Coeur d’Alene Kiwanis club is co-sponsoring the event and providing replacement seats, which may be available for a contribution.

Prior to the check-up, a “Moving Children Safely in Child Care” workshop for child-care providers will be conducted at the Child Development Center. Participants will earn four hours of Idaho STARS training. The workshop costs $35, which is due by Sept. 20. To register and learn about scholarship information for child-care providers, call 2-1-1 or 1-800-926-2588. Enrollment is limited to 20.
