Meetings on Septic Flow Rule Changes Scheduled

Hayden, ID - Developers, designers, citizens and representatives from governmental entities in the five northern counties have been invited to meet with the Panhandle Health District (PHD) in the next two months to develop criteria for gauging residential septic system flows. The results of a series of work meetings will be used in drafting a proposed rule change that will be presented to the 2008 Legislature.

The size of a septic system now depends on the number of bedrooms in the house the system will serve. A change in building trends has necessitated a review to determine whether bedrooms alone adequately predict wastewater flows.

Each group will meet twice with the Health District and once jointly, at which time all groups and PHD will work to produce a consensus.
