April 26, 2007 Panhandle Health District to Conduct Child Safety Seat Events

State Farm Insurance has awarded the Panhandle Health District (PHD) $5,000 to conduct two child safety seat community events for families to ensure children are traveling safely in cars. The grant is through the State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship program. "For us, it's all about safety," said Sue Breesnee, State Farm Insurance agent in the Post Falls office that helped secure the grant. "We want to make sure children are safe and child seats are properly installed." The grant will enable PHD to offer the public a free child safety seat check-up on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at State Farm, 3904 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, and another one in September. National SAFE KIDS-certified technicians will check that seats are installed properly, meet safety standards and are being used correctly. State Farm has partnered with the Panhandle Health District several times to promote child passenger safety. "State Farm is a major sponsor of the SAFE KIDS campaign that certifies child passenger safety technicians and instructors," said Joanna Adams, PHD's Health Promotion supervisor.
