Chronic diseases are medical troubles that last a long time. Unlike an illness that sidelines you for a short period and then leaves and allows to you recover, chronic diseases stay with you and limit your daily living.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic diseases contribute to 70 percent of all deaths in the United States. That's 1.7 million deaths each year.

Frustratingly, chronic diseases are among the most preventable diseases that plague us. Healthy lifestyles--eating nutitious foods, staying physically fit and avoiding tobacco--can help prevent or control these diseases that have the potential to destroy our lives.
