Panhandle Health District offers free four-week classes and free individual consultations to help you quit tobacco use.

 

Classes include:

  • nicotine addiction
  • consequences of smoking or spit tobacco
  • benefits of being tobacco-free
  • battling withdrawal symptoms
  • stress management techniques
  • nutrition and exercise
  • engaging social support
  • techniques of dealing with relapse
  • different quitting techniques
  • strategies for coping with urges

 

Individual consultations

  • Freshstart
    • General adult consultations that include two 1-1 1/2 hour appointments followed by telephone support.
    • Consultations are by appointment. Call 208-415-5143.

  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Millennium Challenge
    • Smoking cessation consultations are incorporated into four WIC program appointments for WIC clients and interested adult household members.
    • To schedule an appointment, talk to a WIC Customer Representative during a WIC appointment.

 

Community Classes

  • Teen classes
    • END--Ending Nicotine Dependence
      • Classes begin the first Tuesday of each month and continue once per week for three additional weeks.
      • They meet 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  at:

  • Adult classes
    • Freshstart
      • Community classes are offered periodically throughout the year in communties throughout the five northern counties of Idaho. Scheduling is flexible.

    • Worksite classes
      • Freshstart
        • On-site classes are available upon request and consist of four one-hour sessions.
